Inspired by the grand kitchen centerpieces of 19th-century French châteaus, this island has everything I need as a chef and everything I appreciate in fine art. The artisan craftsmanship is white glove in every way: from the careful grain selection of the solid cherrywood to the perfect finish on the marble top to the pinned mortise-and-tenon joints of the legs and frame. It features a cherrywood pull-out table for extra workspace, plus six drawers, four doors, two shelves and brass towel racks for double-sided convenience. The removable European ash cutting board has brass handles for prep and service. The island stores 12 bottles of wine. Hand-rubbed using natural shellac, French polish and beeswax for a rich patina that only gets better with time. Handmade in France. 51½ x 27½ x 36½" h.; extends to 77½" long.
